The Chia Co Launches the Innovative Chia Pod®

One full serve of Chia mixed with coconut milk and real fruit. Each Chia Pod® contains just three ingredients, providing 100% of your recommended daily intake of Omega 3, 25% of your fiber and no added sugar.

Dairy-free and vegan, Chia Pods will be sold in the non-dairy yogurt section of grocery and natural food retailers nationally. Each 6 ounce Chia Pod® has been cold-processed to retain the raw nutrition, taste and color of the fruit.

This innovative single serve pack – which is recyclable and made from 30% recycled content – is complemented by a specially designed spoon inside the lid, making Chia Pods ideal for people on-the-go.

“We worked to create a product that fits with people’s fast and busy lifestyles,” said John Foss, founder and CEO of The Chia Co. “We are really proud to be launching the range with just three ingredients and no added sugar.”

The Chia Co. can track and trace every Chia seed in every Chia Pod® back to their farms in Australia. “Chia can be eaten straight from the seed pod, so it made total sense for us to name our new range Chia Pods,” said Foss.

Available in four nutritious flavors – banana, mango, blueberry and vanilla bean cinnamon – each Chia Pod® contains 3 grams of Omega 3 ALA and 5 grams of dietary fiber as well as essential protein, vitamins and minerals.

Chia Pods are ideal for people looking for a quick, delicious breakfast at work, those who are cutting sugar from their diet and they are the perfect pre-workout meal.

Chia Pods are whole food nutrition that’s ready to eat.

According to Nielsen’s Food/Drug/Mass/Natural Channels (Nielsen/ Spins latest 52 weeks ending September 1, 2012), the Chia category is growing at 239% and will be a $1.1 billion category by 2020.

About The Chia Co

The Chia Co. is the world’s largest producer of Chia seed and was founded in 2003 by fourth generation farmer and CEO, John Foss. The farms where the seed is grown are located in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, exactly 15 degrees from the equator. This latitude provides the ideal amount of sunlight to grow Chia rich in Omega 3.
