Refreshing and nutritious summer drink

Ingredients

  • about 250ml of water
  • 1 Tbsp dry chia seeds
  • a few teaspoons lemon or lime juice
  • honey or agave nectar, to taste (optional)

Method

  1. Stir the chia seeds into the water; let them sit for about five minutes.
  2. Stir again, and let sit for as long as you like. The more it sits, the more gel-like the seeds and water become.
  3. Add citrusjuice and sweetener to taste.

Fruit Smoothies with White Chia Seed

Ingredients

  • 3 bananas or 2 mangos or 1 punnet of strawberries
  • 1 ½ cups milk (whole milk, skim milk, soy milk, almond milk)
  • 1 tablespoons honey (optional)
  • 2-3 tablespoons White Chia Seed
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 cup of ice

Method

  1. Combine Chia Seeds with water and soak for 20 minutes until a thick gel forms
  2. In a blender, Blend together Chia Seed gel and remaining ingredients and serve immediately.

Tip: For a thicker smoothie add ½ cup of your favourite yoghurt.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup diced mango flesh
  • 1/2 cup lite coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup plain yoghurt
  • 1/2 cup skim milk or soy milk
  • 1 tablespoon white chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 handful ice cubes

Method

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Serve in a tall glass with a straw.
